Urge City Council to OK Library Parcel Tax-City Council Meeting -Tuesday, June 29,10:00 AM

posted Jun 25, 2010, 12:07 PM by Henry Gambill
The proposed LAPL parcel tax that is targeted for the November 2010 city-wide ballot is the only pragmatic vehicle that can help "quickly" restore city library services as we used to know it. This emergency initiative would charge city property owners $39.00 annually (about $3.25 per month), and all revenue would support the Los Angeles Public Library in this our darkest hour.
However, the City Council must approve this parcel tax in order for the ballot initiative to go forward. Please come to City Council on Tuesday, June 29th at 10am. Fill out a speaker card and urge the council to vote in favor. Come remind them how valuable our library is to our city and how much it hurts in the present scenario.
