Today (Sunday, 2/28/10) Librarians Guild members and volunteers invaded two farmers markets for several hours and collected over 440 signatures for our Petition to Save the Library. At Larchmont Farmer's Market, Verdel Flores (Mar Vista Branch), her husband Nato Flores, Roy Stone (Fairfax Branch) and Sheila Nash (Art & Recreation) garnered 250 signatures. At the Pacific Palisades Farmer's Market, Henry Gambill (Palisades Branch) and his girlfriend Andrea Mikonowicz persuaded 170 adults to sign the petition and 22 youths to sign the Youth Petition. Not bad for a morning's work! Let's keep our momentum going: Go out into your own communities and get those signatures! You will find that people really want to support LAPL--they just need to be asked.
