At this morning's City Council meeting for their Budget and Finance Committee, about 9 librarians, 4 patrons, 1 teen patron and 1 library clerk made quite an impression on the Council. All spoke of the need for libraries for the city's youth, for a literate and culturally aware public and for city safety. Councilmembers Janice Hahn, Tom LaBonge and Bill Rosendahl were supportive, but it was Janice Hahn who spoke the loudest and questioned whether those cuts would be good for Los Angeles. Our voices matter everyone. Keep sending those emails and even better, go to a City Council meeting.
